▪️The peaceful solution followed from the draft agreement, which both warring parties agreed upon by April 15, 2022. Only a few points remained open. They were supposed to be discussed personally by Putin and Zelensky at a meeting that never took place.
▪️According to this document, Ukraine obliged:
➖ observe “permanent neutrality”, i.e., renounce membership in a military alliance, including NATO;
➖ abandon the production and receipt of nuclear weapons, do not allow foreign troops into the country and do not allow weapons to pass through;
➖ do not provide your infrastructure, including airfields and seaports, to other countries;
➖ refrain from conducting military exercises with foreign participation and from participating in any military conflicts;
➖ legally prohibit “fascism, Nazism and aggressive nationalism” .
▪️Russia pledged not to attack Ukraine anymore;
➖ in the event of an attack, the guarantor countries would be obliged to support Ukraine within 3 days;
➖ parts of the DPR and LPR would remain with Russia. Crimea and the port of Sevastopol were excluded from security guarantees, which, in fact, meant the transfer of the peninsula to the Russian Federation.
▪️During the negotiations, Russia announced its readiness to withdraw troops from Ukraine, but not from Crimea and part of Donbass. The heads of state were supposed to discuss the details of the troop withdrawal directly.
▪️The issue of the future number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also remained unresolved.
