I've never ever seen a good gambling movie. They are all terrible with the exception of that one horse movie. Guy turned 5 bucks into like 300K. And it was only good because it was funny. The one where Ben affleck was the offshore operator was the biggest pile of shit, I've ever laid eyes on. They all suck[/size]

Fucking Let It Ride. Watch it every 6 months or so, best gambling movie ever.

Yup. Let it ride. Very funny movie. The one and only GOOD gambling movie ever made. Owning Mahoney was OK also. That Ben Affleck movie was the Biggest pile of SHIT I've ever laid EYES on. Along with the Bruce Willis movie. And the Harvard kids counting cards. And on and on and on. They all Suck

I wouldn't argue with your limited scope of examples, but you need to open up a bit and expand your cinematic knowledge. It's also hard to compare a narrative to a documentary.

1973 and 1974 gave film arguably it's two greatest gambling films and characters laying the odds. And 2015 gave us a real good indie gambling film.

Robert Altman's class, "California Spit." Elliot Gould nailed his roles as Charlie Walters in humor and the mentality of a gambler.

And who doesn't like a road trip gambling film? Who doesn't like a broke guy making a large wager on Gonzaga using credit in a restroom?

I also like Rounders, The Hustler, The Color of Money, and The Cooler. Hard Eight and The Sting may not be straight forward gambling films, but they are well made too.
