Their only really good pitcher that year was Buchholz and he didnt pitch in sept or oct Dempster, Peavy, Lester (who was only ok that year far from an ace). Papi saved them.. Game 1 8-1...Cards 4-2, game 2....game 3 Cards 5-4,,, , Game 4 Red Sox 4-2.... Game 5 Red Sox 3-1... Game 6... Red Sox 6-1... So the pitching shut down the Cards.... tripp Posted August 8, 2015 Report Share Posted August 8, 2015 But i am saying the pitchers arent good, not that they werent good for a 6 game stretch You can throw out 4 minor league starters and they may shut down a mlb lineup for 6 games. Bum minor leaguers come up all the time and throw gems, only to end up with a huge era once they have a handful of starts under their belt Id take Price/Dickey/Buehrle/Estrada for the Jays over Lester/Lackey/Peavy/Dempster And id also take tanaka/pineda/Eovaldi/Nova over the boston crew None of those guys were great pitchers that year. If lackey is your best sp (and he was arguably the best of those four that year) thats not a great thing. it worked and they pitched well in the playoffs, but again that doesnt make them great pitchers Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
