[h=1]Vegas sportsbook considers Georgia favorite to win title[/h] By Tom Fornelli | College Football Writer

The College Football Playoff released its first set of rankings Tuesday night, and Georgia found itself as one of the few SEC teams not in the top 10. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 11 even if they are the prohibitive favorite in the SEC East right now.

But there's at least one sports book in Las Vegas that doesn't care about where Georgia is ranked right now. CG Technology actually considers the Bulldogs to be the favorite to win it all this season, ranking be damned.

And you know what? It's really not all that insane an idea.

Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Auburn and Alabama may all be ranked ahead of Georgia right now, but those four teams still have quite a few games scheduled against one another. Then there's Georgia, which, aside from a home game against Auburn on Nov. 15, has a much easier road the rest of the way. Odds are the Dawgs will be making that short trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game, and when it gets there it will have Todd Gurley back in the fold. In other words it'll be a team more than capable of beating whichever beat up SEC West champion it faces, and if Georgia wins the SEC there's no way it's not making the playoff.

And if Georgia gets in, I don't think there'll be any other team there it can't beat either. So while considering it the favorite right now is a bit of a stretch, things could change quickly.

Id jump all over Miss St 10/1.They are reminding me of the Auburn team with Cam Newton that came out of nowhere but had a big, strong dual threat QB that could dominate a game, a very good RB and underrated playmakers on defense. I agree Alabama would be favored over everyone on a neutral site, but from everything I have watched Miss St is the best team in the nation right now. They are also in a position where they can lose another game and still be in the playoffs. If they lose to bama but beat Ole Miss no way they are left out at 11-1 with wins @ ole miss, @ lsu and vs Aub. And only loss vs bama

Only other team i like at those odds are Oregon at 8/1. As long as Oregon handles their business and wins out they will be in the playoffs. They should be heavy favs in pretty much all their games

Very telling also that FSU is 7/1 now. They were i think 4/1 before the season started and now 7 weeks in still undefeated while beating the only good team on their schedule already (notre dame), and yet their odds of winning the title have gone down. They havent looked good and the odds reflect that. If they trip up vs L'ville thursday no way they get into the playoffs either over a 1 loss team from any other conference

Georgia seems low to me. I get the reasoning, they are maybe the safest bet to go undefeated the rest of the reg season of any SEC team and have Gurley back, but still I dont trust their QB to beat both Auburn AND whoever they would face in the sec title game. And with two losses no way they get into the playoffs considering they had a really weak schedule by sec standards

Tripp you're a clown. Don't just say you would jump all over Mississippi State' date=' freaking bet it then.[/b']

Personally I think FSU and Oregon at those odds offer the best value. Both should win out and make the playoff.

And Clemson was a tough opponent for FSU, fwiw.

I would if they were available at pinnacle. I pretty much only play there now and pinny hasn't had any NCAAF future odds available since the season started. They update NFL futures every week but not ncaa. If they put ncaa futures out anytime soon trust me i will put some on them. But not if pinny waits till playoff matchups are announced and Miss St is only +200 at that point

Also looks like the playoff committee knew more than vegas in this instance. Vegas puts UGA as the fav, committee slights them and puts them at #11. And now they are getting just run all over by a mediocre Florida team. Florida isnt even pretending like they will throw the football and somehow still running down the throats of georgia. Matt jones is an impressive back

Not sure UGA could survive a loss here. Maybe they can if they go on to win the SEC, even with 2 losses but that will be their only fallback. They have to win the div if they dont come back today
