Did a colon cancer screening test - now Dr wants to see me ASAP

During a colonoscopy is when they would remove any polyps.

After removal they send them to the lab to test if benign or malignant.

May be just a hemorrhoid and the doc may send you for that colonoscopy

to make sure it's nothing more, after asking you about your family health

history back a generation.

Believe there was recently a colonoscopy related thread here.

Everything will be fine, pal. Keep us updated on the matter.

Went to the Dr today.

Told me 1 of the stool 3 samples I sent in contained blood.

They are scheduling a colonoscopy.

I'm very happy with my treatment and my Dr. They called me immediately after getting the test results and moved up my appointment 2 weeks in order to fast track things.

With the bleeding signs he can raise the importance level for the procedure and your wait time

for the colonoscopy will be shorter.  You'll be drinking up loads before and then cursing after.

"Shitty" routine.

Good Luck and spare us the bathroom details.

  • 1 month later...

Just returned home after my procedure at 11AM.

I must say I was very impressed with the medical staff and my treatment at the clinic.

VERY professional - clear concise instructions and complete explanation of the process. I was confident I was in good hands.

Friendly too.

As for the colonoscopy, the Dr said he was very glad I came in early (I'm not yet 50) because they discovered and removed  7 polyps.

1 of the polyps was quite large. I'm scheduled for another colonoscopy 1st week of August to make certain they found and removed everything.

While not a pleasant experience it was only mildly unpleasant at times. No pain at all, just cramps from bloating.

Good to hear plommer.  My mom just went thru the same thing (albeit she's older than you).  If they catch it early enough before it spreads (even if the polyps are cancerous), you shouldn't have any issues.  You'll just have to do a colonoscopy every 2 years, instead of 4-5.  But other than that, hopefully clear sailing ahead.
