In 2015 Mariota set numerous records including first rookie NFL History to throw a perfect game in his first game and only rookie throw 4 TD passes on kickoff weekend. Also first rookie in history with 2 games with 4+ TD/0 INTs in a season. Had 4 games with 3+ TD passes tying Peyton Manning for most ever by rookie QB but one of the most surprising was having the longest run from scrimmage in 2015 running for 87 yard TD which was the second longest QB run in history. The team hired a new GM who then traded the number one pick to Rams for a boatload of draft picks including many for this year and even some for 2017 including the Rams 2017 first round pick which means the Titans have 2 first round picks in 2017. This year with the many picks they drafted a right tackle,running back,wide receiver,linebacker,safety,corner,etc. The team brought in offensive line help as well as running backs and wide receivers in free agency. With the added line help they plan on protecting Mariota as well as run the ball with Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry. The help brought in should bolster Mariota and the offenses chances of improving on their red zone success where they are 5th best in the league. Mariota is one of the best red zone QBs in the NFL.As far as their record last year they lost 5 games by 4 points or less and were better than their record indicated and that along with how well Mariota played means they should be much better in 2016. Bovada has the Titans winning 5.5 but i'm willing to bet the farm they will go over that mark and win as many as eight or nine games if Mariota is healthy all season. Like the RB addition and fact that they made some strides to improving the OL, but still not sold on that WR core being a boost to Mariota's development this season, don't see the guy there who stretches things consistently and loosens up that secondary to make some holes for Walker etc (maybe Wright but he is def a wait and see kinda guy). Mo i see you put 0-16 but it won't be like that at all they will be better BUT i see why you think that because Tennessee had two bad seasons back to back. From 1999-2008 the Titans were among the top five teams in the NFL in wins on their 10th anniversary in '08. They went 13-3 on three different occassions,12-4 season,11-5 season and a 10-6 season. Made the postseason six times and won their division on three different times. They were 13-3 in 2008,8-8 in 2009 and in 2010 were 6-10. In 2011 the team went 9-7 and were a hair from making the postseason. Tennessee was regular making the postseason and having winning years from 1999 all the way up through 2011. 2012 was when the bottom fell out and all the bad shit started with the hiring of a new GM and drafting of QB as both proved terrible. The new GM kept drafting players based on how fast they were,if they were wrestlers in high school or how much muscle a guy had and his name was Ruston Webster he passed on numerous players that ended up being all pros like Lavonte David,Sheldon Richardson,Logan Ryan and picked other players at the same position. Also in 2011 the Titans brought in QB Matt Hasselbeck who led them to a winning year at 9-7 they could've stuck with him but instead chose to go with the draft pick QB Jake Locker and guess who was picked right after Locker? JJ Watt. I have no doubt if Jeff Fisher wouldn't have left Tennessee months earlier he would've had his GM choose Watt after all Fish was a big fan of defensive talent and disliked young QB's preferring veterans. The GM Webster was brought in 2011 and was a big part of the 2011 draft where the team in the first round took a QB Jake Locker who lost more games than he won in college,went to zero major bowl games and when most first round picks put up video game like numbers Locker had just 55TD and nearly 40INT along with barely completing 53 percent of his passes. Well he gets to Tennessee and stays hurt a lot but when he does play nearly half the games he can't complete 50 percent or half his passes. One of the worst pro QB's ever IMHO. Webster made numerous other mistakes especially early in the draft as Locker,Ayers,Brown,Martin,Gooden are first,second,third round picks all already gone. How bad was Webster? In the span of a couple seasons he spent 55 million dollars on free agent offensive linemen like Andy Levitre,Chad Hutchinson,Michael Oher,etc. draft in the first round Chance Warmack in 2013,Taylor Lewan first round 2014,Jeremiah Poutasi in 2015 and through 2015 STILL had one of the worst lines in football. Due to that terrible GM/QB combo we went 6-10 in 2012, 7-9 in 2013, 2-14 in 2014 and 3-13 in 2015. In 2015 Tennessee started getting serious about repairing the damage and had let Locker go drafting QB Marcus Mariota. The last season or so the bad GM Webster started drafting better but it was too late so in 2016 a new GM Robinson was signed and he is drafting very well finding starters as well as building depth. So how much better is this new QB Mariota and GM Robinson over their predecessors? Well they didn't waste any time proving they were better as Mariota's first game he ended up being the first rookie QB in NFL History to throw a perfect game in his first game and only rookie throw 4 TD passes as well. Meanwhile the GM Robinson traded the Titans number one pick to Rams for a boatload of draft picks including many for this year and even some for 2017 including the Rams 2017 first round pick which means the Titans have 2 first round picks in 2017. This year with the many picks they drafted a right tackle,running back,wide receiver,linebacker,safety,corner,etc. The new GM Robinson and new QB Mariota seem to have the Titans on the right path again like they were from 1999 through 2011.Sure the team sucked from 2012 through 2015 but the Titans have won numerous division titles,playoff games and had winning seasons they are nothing like the Raiders,Jags,Browns,Bills,Rams,etc. those teams went ten straight years with losing seasons. One final thing the new GM Robinson did not want to keep Mularky as head coach but ownership politely asked him to give Mularky at least one more season to prove himself. Anyway this guy said that The Titans overall in the past decade and a half since starting in 1999 were worse than the Raiders,Jags,Browns,Bills,Rams,Lions,etc. From 1999 through 2011 the Titans only had four losing seasons to that point in 2001,2004,2005 and 2010. The team had numerous winning seasons and postseason appearances along with several division titles. In fact only three teams in the NFL had 13 or more wins in three different seasons in the past decade and half they are New England,Indianapolis and Tennessee. Anyway when we put the Raiders,Jags,Browns,Bills,Rams,Lions,etc. and compared them all of course the Titans had way more wins than each team. All those teams have been losing 10 plus years straight or more and Tennessee has had 4 straight losing seasons thats a big difference. So the Titans have only had 4 straight losing seasons 2012 through 2015. Well the guy was a big talker after all we bet on games between all four of us often so the 100 dollars i won was sweet. Yeah he has a lot of talent he just doesn't use it. Hunter at one time was supposed to be the teams number one guy but he never developed or utilized his talent. When Mariota came out of college, the chatter from scouts and general managers all had a similar theme: If you want to win more games in your first season, draft Jameis Winston first overall. If you want to win more games over the next decade, draft Marcus Mariota. After watching nearly every one of his snaps from Year 1, we tend to agree. That is encouraging, no matter how anyone looks at it -- those numbers would be on par, in some respects, with Russell Wilson's early returns in Seattle. The next step is driving that comparison even further. The Titans are not built to win as many games as the Seahawks in 2016, but we would like to see Mariota's fourth-quarter comebacks total (two) double this year. We would like to see his quarterback rating rise and his turnovers decrease. We would like to see him spread the ball around more. Mike75 Posted September 6, 2016 Author Report Share Posted September 6, 2016 RB Derrick Henry and WR Tajae Sharpe both rookies were the leaders among rookies at their respective positions according to not only PFF but a couple other major NFL media as well. Great fpr Tennessee because although they have a good QB in Mariota all they needed was RB and WR and it looks like they really made the right choices. They also drafted a rookie right tackle Jack Conklin and the line has been playing better too. Our GM has a big plan. We have the offense mostly done we will fix the defense next offseason with not only two first round draft picks but also free agency. Our GM saved 30 million for 2017 so next free agency Tennessee will make a huge leap with plenty of draft picks as well as making big waves in free agency.
