I have a pit/black and tan coonhound and a pit/mastiff. If you're getting a pit /Akita then you need to be very on top of the the training because the Akita part won't be wanting to listen and you need to socialize the puppy a lot, especially in the first 16 weeks (lots of kid time).

Interesting.......does not sound like the ideal pet for the household of a professional advantage gambler

Probably not but FH you should study a little bit to know what you are doing if you are not a dog person.  I had a friend who had an Akita (it ended up being 150) and he came home after work one day when the puppy was six months old and it had eaten his couch (well the part that was edible, the other part was destroyed).  I know a lot of Akita owners who never let their dogs off the leash, ever.

And a picture is worth a thousand words and what I would say based on your photo is you are going to have a very confident dog.  The dog in the front in that picture better have an owner who knows what the fuck they are doing because the stance, the positioning relative to the other dogs, the targeting including the ears, that's one very dominant fucking puppy.  It's going to grow up to be a gigantic pitbull with the add-on genes of a willful, independent dog that was bred to fight bears.  Both pits and Akitas are good with kids but you need to introduce the puppy to a large number of children.  Good luck.

FH discussed getting himself classified as needing companion dog.

Meaning dog would be able to go with him to places such as bingo and casino.

FH would simply if asked have to show proof his physician/shrink deemed him as needing the companion to properly function.

Will be only dog in world bearding wagers.

If abused and/or not properly trained on early in life they can be at either end of the spectrum, wimps or extremely ferocious.

Yeah. They are terriers which is why they are so crazy. I don't think they are any different than any other dog. But they are hunting dogs and like to attack so are natural fighters and have those powerful jaws.

You won't have to show anything. If asked, you just have to confirm that it is a service dog. And possibly what type of service it performs. Buy a service dog in training vest and start taking the dog out in public everywhere after the first fear period. So after 10 weeks. And you need to be the one training the dog. This is not a golden retriever. Good luck.
