"James ranks 16th on the all-time assists list, with only guards ahead of him. If James keep up his season average of 9.1 assists, which would be a career high, he would finish the 2016-17 campaign ranked 12th all time in assists, passing Tim Hardaway (7,095), Terry Porter (7,160), Lenny Wilkens (7,211) and Mo Cheeks (7,392) in the process."

Tripp and Deemer going to suck him extra hard tonight.

44/10/9 tonight and heres the key stat, 70% SHOOTING

Russ and his over the top fans should take notes while they drool over a 27/10/10 with 9 turnovers and 9/26 or so shooting

(That isnt to hate on Russ, i think hes incredible, but people are going way over the top with the praise for the triple doubles when the ball is always in his hands, leads league in turnovers and he rarely has an efficient shooting night)

Basketball positions don't mean much anymore.

they really never did, there are no specific positions on a basketball court

Its not like football where everyone lines up somewhere different, you run a play and then line up at your position again for the next play

Everyone is on the same court using up the same space playing both ways. Labeling positions just helps people follow and understand easier but its never been necessary or important. Whats true is more and more people have become wise to this and value versatility. You want players that can do it all, or as much of it as possible (ie shoot, dribble, rebound, pass, move, defend)

Yeah, because 6'3 PG's frequently have the same FG% as 6'9 forwards in the history of basketball.

Also, you keep pointing to turnovers for Russell. You won't shut up about it.... yet when he has endless triple doubles you say it's because he always has the ball in his hands. But when you talk about turnovers you don't point out that he has a lot of those because he always has the ball in his hands. Pretty funny.

JFC, given the structures of old NBA offenses and defenses it's absurd to say positions never mattered.

The league is more perimeter oriented now, so SF's aren't on the block nearly as much as they used to be but they used to play on the block and inside the key 99% of the game. Also, guys back in the day were forced into position based on their height. Magic started to help break that mold, but even then people were skeptical.

Jordan NEVER had to take the floor knowing he needed 15 rebounds for his team to have shot at a win

Kobe NEVER had to take the floor knowing he needed 15 assist for his team to have a shot to win

James has been in BOTH situations. His whole career he has been asked to Score, assist, rebound and match up with the other teams best scorer

THAT is the diff with James vs the others discussed as one of the best ever.

You have no clue what you're talking about.

Jordan's best rebounding season he averaged 8 a game; Lebron's best rebounding season he averaged 8 a game. You're just talking complete and utter nonsense.

Jordan had to do more with less than Lebron ever did in the late 80's.
