Pretty sure the most qualified person for the job NOT getting it was a big reason for affirmative action.

 

Not sure what the point OP was making but for the discussion BB/Uncle D started, I agree in a perfect world theres no need for minority quotas and programs like Affirmative action, but its so hard to judge if people are being evaluated fairly because "most qualified person" can be VERY subjective. So if a group of white CEOs only feel more comfortable with other whites its pretty easy to only hire other whites to important positions and find some sort of argument that backs them up as most qualified. 

 

Its not just a black issue either its about getting smart women in positions they deserve to be in, smart Muslim people that too many white males (more so in America, but certainly not limited to them) still feel unwarranted uneasiness around, smart people in general. 

 

Those programs exist because people like that WERENT being hired when many were the best for the job.

Why not hire all women and pay them 20% less then men? That's what Obama and Hillary did.
