As soon as they find anything of significance it MUST be reported to the authorities. If one of them somehow dug up the Ark of the Covenant somewhere we’d know about it long before the show ever aired. They brought back the guy who was a little kid at the time his brother and father died and he said it was probably his gun as a child. The whole episode was built around that.
