Bowl scheduling

What cities were the games played in? Not too much else you can do to separate the games. Could have one start at noon and another late at 10 pm but only if there is a game played on the west coast

They usually do a really good job of staggering start times. Monday for example has games at 2, 5:30 and 9 pm eastern, Tuesday has games at 3, 6:30 and 10

In fact only other time they have overlapping games is Jan 1 where they have three bowl games starting between 12-1, then showcase the two playoff matchups at 5 and 8:30

when you have this many games, having one at noon or 11 PM is a no brainer

Nebraska/USC is on the West Coast, the Sun Bowl is in Texas

so you start one at 12, one at 2, one at 4, the Sun Bowl could be at 7, and the Nebraska/USC game could be 10 or 10:30. Obviously there's still overlap, but a lot less.

you'd get better ratings that way than the way they did it. They had 3 bowl games being played at the same time for no apparent reason.

I know. It's common sense. That's what makes this confusing. A 2 PM, a 3:30, and a 4:30 on the same day make sense?

I guess their goal isn't viewers.

Or maybe they let Jameis Winston handle today's scheduling.

yeah seems like the time zones work out where they could have done that, would make sense like you said

Only thing I could think of is maybe certain bowl games have rights to certain times to guarantee themselves best possible ratings. Your described times would probably be best for overall ratings but Holiday Bowl may have a guaranteed 8 pm primetime slot. Moving them to a 10 or 10:30 time slot would obviously hurt their ratings quite a bit
