.LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas police say they are investigating a burglary at a high-end retail store inside the Bellagio Hotel and Casino.

Police said in a statement Saturday that a preliminary investigation suggests that at least three people entered a jewelry store and one of them fired gunshots. No one was injured.

The hotel was briefly put on lockdown.

A person believed to be a suspect was spotted wearing a PIG mask outside of the hotel’s Rolex store and was taken into custody.

Burglars armed with sledgehammers smashed the glass entrance of a high-end jewelry store at the Bellagio early today, stealing items, fleeing and prompting authorities to lockdown parts of the property, according to Metro Police.

At least three “well dressed” suspects made their way into the jewelry store, which was seemingly closed for the night, and broke their way into it, stealing “valuable” items. Police responded about 12:50 p.m, Hank said.

The suspects proceeded to the parking garage and tried to drive away, but their vehicle wouldn’t start, Hank said. They continued on foot and tried to carjack a driver at an undisclosed location. They ran when that effort also was unsuccessful, he said.

Several people had been detained and were being questioned, but Hank couldn’t confirm any arrests as of 4:15 a.m.

The lockdown, which included the casino and the parking garage were shut down for at least an hour as officers secured the scene and made sure no one was injured, Hank said.

Armed robbers need to have reliable get-a-way vehicles.

If only they would have gotten away with this robbery - they could then afford a more reliable car and could turn pro.

Perhaps a plan B for the get-a-away would be on their wish-list now.

All they need is a little time to come up with a better plan - and the government just may be able to help them out on that count.

WTF is going on lately in Vegas?  Crime seems to be getting worse and worse.  And its the brazen nature that is kind of scary.  Hitting casinos.  Hitting on the streets in broad daylight.

Crazy.

Might just have to keep to Station Casinos soon and keep to Henderson/Summerlin.

Hit up Red Rock next time, fuck the Strip.

Ive been staying off the Strip most trips anyway now. Orleans, Sunset Station, GVR... Just started getting mailers for free nights at GVR. Will actually be heading there from LA in April. Might be my new home away from home in the Vegas area if they continue to be generous with the rooms.

And Red Rock is my favorite. Been about 18 months since Ive received a comp room offer though. I'm probably completely off the list with them now unfortunately.
