Chada Street in Chinatown is closing this week and is going to be replaced by a new restaurant from the owners of Eatt.

I hated Chada Street (love Chada Thai) though and never understood the love the critics gave it.

Eatt is a pretty spectacular place though (not to be confused with Eat, which is damn good too) so am very much looking forward to the new spot which will be named Partage (French for sharing, I think).

So last night I went to a place called Sapporo Revolving Sushi.  It's fairly new here and the concept is pretty unique.

You sit down and there is a conveyor belt that goes around with different types of sushi on small plates.  They come 2 or 3 pieces depending on the fish and they charge you by the plate.

There is also an ipad-type device at the table.  You click on the menu sections and hit whatever item you want.  When it is ready there is another conveyor belt that delivers the food to you (kind of hard to describe but it reminded me of the Jetsons).  If you need your waitress or the bill you hit the button on the screen.  Seems like a very efficient labor cost.  The place was packed at 8:30 and I had to wait for a table.

Now, the negative is the sushi quality was about akin to one of those all-you-can-eat places around town.  The food I ordered off the screen was definitely a notch above.  Also, all the sushi you got off the belt was the rice kind and there were no sashimi options or salad-type plates.  The charge per plate was $2.50 and they also had a happy hour two hours before close where everything was $1.50.

I thought it was a neat gimmick and would go back with a group but the food quality was just average.

I took some pics and video but my phone messed up so you would have to look online for a better description.  Total cost for me for 10 plates, an order of branzino w carrot puree, green tea, and tip was $41.

Went to Eatt on Monday.  Absolutely delicious.  Owner chatted me up and I told him I had heard about the new Chinatown restaurant.  Think I impressed him.  He invited me down for the pre-opening friends and family trial.

Got a Lyonnaise Salad with an oxtail croquette and then got another dish of grilled artichoke with burrata and seasonal citrus.

Healthy but delicious.  Should probably eat here more.

Last Thursday went to Hachi which is a Japanese Izakaya.  Delicious grilled meats and veggies on the charcoal grill and a sashimi carpacciio with salmon and halibut that was sublime.  Place is open until 2 am as well which is nice for late night eats.

Both meals were in the $30 to $40 range.  Probably would be 100+ on the Strip.

What are the best breweries in Vegas? I did get one of the 20 Rx spots at the SBR bash in August, would like to hit a couple of them, along with Atomic Liquors (staying at the Nugget). Last time I went to Vegas, there wasn’t any breweries.

Try the brewery in downtown Henderson.

.........and the last time you were in Vegas/Henderson, there were breweries.

I’ll be in town aug 23-26. I remember the yardhouse (didn’t go), but no real breweries around the strip, nor any casino selling anything close to a craft beer. It’s been 5-6 years now.

Of the top of my head here FW,

my top 2:

HopNuts- on Charleston near main, short ride from downtown, best quality beer imo and there IPA (Hopathon) used to be one my faves.  If they have Green Mamba as well (double IPA), that's an award winner.

Tenaya Creek- near downtown/uber.  Good selection of in-house brews and other obscure selections.

East side:

Ellis Island- crap beer, hard root beer is ok.

Gordon Biersch- meh

Henderson/Boulder Highway/Boulder City

Lovelady- some good quality brews, quite a hike from downtown

Boulder City Brew Pub- scenic drive, average brews

Barley's- growlers are a steal.

Joseph James- mostly mass-produced cans, in Brewery District

Bad Beat Brewing- Brewery District as well, no standouts

West Side:

Chicago Brewing Company- on Ft. Apache (the one in Four Queens doesn't make their own I think).  passable to average

Old School- closed down last year, too bad I liked it

Big Dog's- one of the older brewpubs, starting to show it's age since owner died

PT's Brewing- brewpub surprisingly good compared to their bars

Downtown:

Main Street Brewpub- cheap late night eats, an old standby

Banger Brewing- tourist trap, but worth trying the El Jefe Jalapeno Beer

aforementioned Tenaya Creek and HopNuts

As far as craft beer bars:

Atomic

Tenaya Creek

Three Sheets (brand new in Arts District, haven't been)

Rebel Republic

Crown and Anchor

Aces and Ales

595 Craft Kitchen

Eureka (new downtown, but looks like they have a good selection)

Lots of cocktail/mixology bars that are top-notch too, but sticking to beer for this question.

If you need more specifics, feel free to ask.  I'm sure I forgot a few as well.

Was good friends with entire family back in the day at the original DRAFT HOUSE, money spent and lost there helped them expand, LOL...............spent MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY hours at the Draft House early to mid 90's

The HOLY COW spinoff was a disaster on LVBLVD/SAHARA, sadly.
