FISHHEAD
I know Viejo has spent many an hour in the Tap House
GreenDoberman
Back when I used to work the swing shift, the Tap House was one of my go-to places. Full kitchen at 3 or 4 in the morning and an excellent graveyard bartender (older guy with unlit cigar). He seemed a bit old school and was a one hand washes the other type of guy. Place is home to the Cleveland Browns fan club. Imagine that is a rough marketing ploy these days. Haven't been in a while as the place is a bit white trashy for me. Lots of rough looking regulars and some well-worn bartenders and waitresses. Do think, in my opinion, that they have the best wings in town (the pizza and pasta very average). If there is a better place for wings I'd like to know and try it.
GreenDoberman
In restaurant news, another closure. The world's largest Hooters (located in the Palms) is closing. Credit to new owners Stations/Red Rock Resorts for seeing a failure quickly. This was the second worst restaurant idea in this city. The worst being the laughable female-oriented sports bar/steakhouse that preceded it called Heraea.

For a slightly upscaled Browns bar, the Blvd Bar is a good choice, with equally, or some would say, even better food than the Tap House. GreenDoberman
Found this interesting reading today: Apparently Caesars has an all-inclusive option at the Rio. It is running through the end of May/beginning of WSOP. Of course, with Caesars there are all kinds of restrictions and fine print. The gist is you get your room, all your meals up to a certain $ amount (at restricted food outlets) and your drinks for the day (I believe the limit was 12 a day). Having done all-inclusive resorts elsewhere, this is an interesting idea bringing it to Vegas. I'm sure they are counting on more spending at the clubs and at the casino. Sounds like this is a test run and they are looking to see if it is feasible and/or profitable. Of course, they are not including the much-debated resort fees in the price. pokerjoe
Surprising choice for French: Mon Ami Gabi. I worked in French restaurants, in DC, and have gone to this one twice and been happy with it's authenticity. But independently of that, once at Bellagio, playing cards with an old French guy, it turns out he'd been in the restaurant biz in DC and we knew some of the same people. I had to ask, what's your favorite French restaurant in Vegas? He said Mon Ami Gabi. In the most touristy place possible, go figure. Of course we're leaving out the wallet busters, like what's it's name at MGM.

GreenDoberman
Gordon Ramsey is putting in a Hell's Kitchen Restaurant (like the TV show) out in front of Caesar's Palace. A couple of closures: View Wine Bar at Tivoli Village (was going there this week, change of plans) along with the entire Market building at Tivoli. It is going to be converted into office space. Loose Caboose, over by the Palms, which I first frequented as LJ's, has also shuttered. It is going to convert to a Dotty's owned Bourbon Sports Bar. Oh, and the world's largest Hooters Restaurant closed at the Palms. It will be replaced by anything which will automatically be better. GreenDoberman
Good to hear BFO. My waitress was awesome, on the verge of overkilll, but just the right spot. I was impressed will go back. $13 for chips/salsa,, full entree with rice and beans, plus house margarita, and soup. I was stuffed and the two places I went after suffered. GreenDoberman
Robert Irvine opened his restaurant at the Tropicana. Won't go there for a while, if ever. His wife is a cool lady though. Went to two Mexican restaurants: Thumbs up to Salud, Thumbs down to Pancho's Kitchen.
