Been having some chest pains for some 6 years now. I know I have a heart condition, had to do some tests a 5 years ago after I OD'ed on cocaine/alcohol/painkillers. How painful is a heart attack and is it a slow death?

In all seriousness, Mr. PR, it all depends on what one considers "painful".

For example, when I was training to be a Navy Seal and in preparation for the many Black Ops missions that I participated in, I underwent rigorous torture training.

At this point, due to my Navy Seal training, my pain threshold is so high:

That I could probably have my limbs amputated (without anesthetic) and not even feel it.

Ultimately, it all comes down to pain threshold, and what one considers "painful".

Glad to be of service...:cigar

I was told back then (I was fairly young, had maybe 24/25 years old) that my heart seemed to be growing. thickening of the heart muscle and veins, plus very high blood pressure, this is the same period of time in my life where I started gambling and playing poker for hours. This was before Black Friday and I used to be backed by one of the top guys at UltimateBet... I used to play from noon to 6pm, shower, dinner go play live poker from 8pm to 1am, come back and play online from 1am til early morning. Rinse and repeat. Somedays I didnt sleep at all. I was told back then I had to stop with the drugs and gambling (due to rage outbursts)...

Last year after the whole debacle with my ex and after I resumed using and quit the gym (I stopped using for 6months and worked out everyday) I used to much one night... I had close to 10 grams (me and 2 other people) which were supposed to be sold to someone else with 2 aussie girls I met at a hostel I used to sell blow at 1 year before that... I basically had a seizure with convulsions and bleeding... a regular coke OD if you will (and the 4th in my life) and I was told the damage in my heart was no longer reversible and that I had cardiac hyperthrophy...

Ive had accute chest pains since 2011, this year they have increased in frequency... and I notice they come in after I party much or after I have a thing upset me a lot... sad/angry/worried/stressed, you name it.

So just preparing psychologically I guess.

Im pretty sure too buddy... been grasping this since last year. Is not easy, I have a heavy mental addiction to it and a lot of triggers that make me come back to it... weird thing is Im still a functional addict... I have not used since last Monday when I reunited with my friend who is getting married, I dont get desperate for a fix, nor I use money that recklessly anymore, Friday I cashed out $300 from stars and used it to pay my credit card... didnt even get 1 gram.. but Im planning on using wednesday (payday) and gamble all day (in my fucked up mentality, I feel like I deserve some leisure time for behaving this week eventho I know I deserve shit).

Is a fuckin puzzle.

I have had some heart rhythm problems due to improper thyroid levels and if you have an issue with your heart, you are going to know it and wonder if you are going to live for the next second. If you are not having that type of issue, it is probably not a heart attack. But you could have an ongoing decline of your heart. Should go to a cardiologist and get put on the treadmill.

Maybe. Was good for me. I could not get my heart rate up without going into spasms. I got on the treadmill and had the spasms and they just told me to keep going and I went through the spasms into full beats. They can tell by an EKG if you have had a heart attack or not. Doctor told me with my heart I could live to 102.

Doctor told me with my heart I could live to 102.

Only if you never leave the house. Even then it would be difficult.

Old people fall and break bones all the time. Dying on the shitter is another way alot of people go. Crossing the street etc.

I will bet my life you don't live to 102.

I might live to 102 got some long life genes in the family. But being single my entire life my life expectancy is only about 55.

In any case, it was a cardiologist that diagnosed my thyroid problem. They can tell a lot just by looking at your heart rhythm. So if you have heart concerns, it will give you some peace of mind to see a cardiologist and if you have decent insurance it does not cost much. If you don't, you are F'd.

Why people die on the toilet (version 0.1):

Although it doesn't get much press (for obvious reasons), a disproportionately high number of people (usually older men who are in high risk categories for heart disease) die on the toilet. This is at least partly due to problems some older men have with constipation. Although this causes them to generally spend longer on the toilet, that's not the problem. The problem is that people in this situation tend to "push" harder and longer than they should in what is effectively Valsalva's maneuver. This added pressure on the intestines and colon corresponds to an added pressure in the abdominal and thoraic cavities. The vena cava (major veins leading back to the heart) are normally "held open" by the "negative pressure" (lower than atmospheric... the same reason a hole in the chest wall (pneumothorax or hemothorax) can kill you so quickly). When the pressure increases it pinches the vena cava closed and the blood can no longer go back to the heart. Consequently, the barroreceptors which measure blood pressure on the arterial side of the heart, notice a drop in pressure (due to the fact that blood is no longer being pumped) and so they trigger a "sympathetic response" that causes blood pressure to spike. The combination of blood pressure spiking (which can lead to stroke or other problems) and lack of blood being pumped to the heart (which starves the heart for oxygen and eventually can trigger a heart attack and/or heart failure).

A similar effect can occur if a child tells another to hold their breath and then the child that is holding their breath (effectively performing Val

A heart attack can be detected years after you have had it. I guess they run a very simple test and can tell when and how severe it was.

It's not that uncommon years after the fact for someone to learn that they had suffered a heart attack and didn't even know it
