Someone posted about this a month or two ago. Was wondering how it was going. I am going to have to do some updates on this house before selling (built 1966) and am so dreading it, House very solid and in good shape, but definitely a little dated with panelling etc.

Painting paneling a nice off white color doesn't look bad at all. Unless it's that real rough to the touch stuff...that would look ugly no matter what.

No,but could be done. I had entire interior house painted last year...took down wallpaper etc.., but did not do that. Need granite countertops in kitchen probably. Those were redone onece but probably in the 80s..., need updated vanity in 2/3 bathrooms...need new carpet/ flooring ...worst part for me making decisions. I will probably die here.

I just removed the paneling and drywalled

If your selling anyways sometimes it's better to sell as is

People have their own personal taste especially if you have to pay to get the work done

That was my plan all along, but watching my neighbor who has a nice home with beautiful yard on the market deal with people and realtors screaming she must have carpet updated before selling makes me nervous. She redid all bathrooms, kitchen, new roof and gutters, ONLY thing dated is carpet (but to be fair it is very dated...think porno red in basement.). But everyone is hung up on carpet whuch would be easiest thing for anyone to replace.

Renovating always cost more than you budget for

You always running into things you didn't account for

I am well into 6 figures for my house and still need to paint outside
