KingRevolver
If a QB has space and starts running the ball... why does he then slide when defenders start to get close? During that last play just now, Dalton started running the ball (got about 15 yards) and then slid because defenders were on the horizon. But, if he had kept running, he could've gained at least ten more yards before being tackled. Is it simply risk of injury or are QBs just big pussies? FISHHEAD
CAM , to his credit, did the opposite yesterday, and it won the game for them.
KingKolzig
they wear different pads to make them have better control in the shoulder area. if dalton ran the ball 20 times like a RB and took 20 hits like an RB he would get injured
Mike75
I think it is a risk of injuries. Some QB's are told in no uncertain terms to slide to avoid injury by both coaches and even GM's of most teams. Your QB gets hurt and it could cost the team dearly including coaches getting fired if they are on the hot seat and the season goes up in smoke because they don't have a good backup. Used to love watching Steve McNair run on the Titans. McNair played with broke fingers, cracked ribs, shoulder, etc. never seen a tougher warrior at QB. However since he left the talent at QB here has sucked. VY and Locker both soured me dearly on mobile QB's. The pendelum has swung back to pocket QB's here finally and even though i don't like Whisenhunt's coaching i do like the fact that he prefers traditional QB's. If he can avoid the injury bug and gets a decent offensive line i think Mettenberger has a good chance to be the long term answer at QB here in TN. Mett played very well at times but couldn't do much with a team lacking talent and a defense that gave up thirty points a game.

KingRevolver
Yes, we get the QB doesn't want to be hit... no one wants to be hit. I'm saying Dalton could've had an extra ten yards (which were needed) if he hadn't had automatically slid before defenders could even get to him. hels
During the regular season I can understand sliding and not taking any hits. But in the playoffs, especially when you are losing you have to take it to the next level. You won't ever make a name for yourself losing in the first round year after year. Sol Diabler
CAM ' date=' to his credit, did the opposite yesterday, and it won the game for them.[/quote'] WRONG. The Panthers won the game when Lindley trotted out there as the starting QB for the Cardinals.
mikeman
Sliding is smart most of the time, but the playoffs are different, you have to put everything you have into every play, the pussy dalton was not even gonna take a hard hit those couple times he ran, a safty or corner were the only guys nearby, it's a little different if it's a lineman or linebacker. hels
That's why John Elway is a legend. Playing sports and making millions of dollars means you have to sacrifice your body at times.
