A Democratic state senator in Missouri is facing resignation calls for posting on Facebook Thursday that she hopes President Trump is assassinated.

“I hope Trump is assassinated!” state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal wrote.

Chappelle-Nadal eventually deleted the post, but a screenshot was saved and shared on Twitter.

In interviews with local outlets, Chapelle-Nadal said she regretted her post but not her anger at the president. She blamed her outburst on the president's response to the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville.

“I posted something on my personal Facebook and I should not have done that, and for that I am sorry for that," Chapelle-Nadal told St. Louis television station KMOV. "But I am not going to shy away from what caused that anger at all, I'm not going to shy away from that."

The Secret Service told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch it is investigating Chapelle-Nadal’s post.

Meanwhile, top Missouri Democrats – including Sen. Claire McCaskill and the chairman of the Missouri Democratic Party – are calling on Chapelle-Nadal to resign.

“I condemn it," McCaskill told the Post-Dispatch. "It's outrageous. And she should resign.”

Missouri Party Chair Stephen Webber called Chappelle-Nadal’s comments "indefensible.”

“I believe she should resign,” Webber said.

But Chappelle-Nadal told KMOX Radio she won’t quit.

“There is no way in hell that I’m resigning,” she said.

You could not possibly think that for real in a million years

I do, CNN is not the real world, that's why after 6 months of non stop smears he won anyway. Look at what's happened this week, the left wing media is tearing into trump(to no avail) for his comments about Charrlottsberg. Apparently...even the republicans are not willing to say anything in his favor, yet buried in all of this are polls that say somthing like 70% of republicans agree with Trumps comments, the majority of the people that matter, AGREE with him, they think he said the right thing...not something terrible.

That is the truth, and the reality.

A couple of the Alt Right's dumber asshats here. As previously stated there isn't an intelligent alt right poster at this site.

Earl and Bubba for future reference the riots occurred in  Charlottesville.

I have a question for you commies, lets say we remove every single monument to anyone that upsets anyone, every single one? That will accomplish what, other than a little momentary pleasure of getting your way, it changes nothing, then what? What will be the next measure to appease stupidity?

A new poll by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist says 62 percent of those polled said Confederate statues honoring leaders should remain.

Only 27 percent said they should be removed, and 11 percent said they were unsure.

The poll sample included 36 percent Democrats, 26 percent Republicans and 37 Independents.

Asked, “Do you think statues honoring leaders of the Confederacy should remain as a historical symbol,” 62 percent of those polled said yes, including 44 percent of Democrats, 82 percent of Republicans, and 61 percent of Independents.

Asked if they should “be removed because they are offensive to some people,” only slightly more of the Democrats agreed, at 47 percent. Only six percent of Republicans agreed, and 27 percent of Independents.

The poll showed that the issue was divisive among African American respondents — 44 percent believed the statues should remain and 40 percent believed they should be removed.

The poll showed that white and Latino respondents felt similarly — 67 of white and 65 percent of Latino respondents believed the statues should stay; 25 percent of white and 24 percent of Latino respondents believed they should be removed.

The poll comes after violence erupted in Charlottesville, Virginia, between those opposing the removal of a statute of Robert E. Lee, a Confederate general, and those supporting it.

The majority of those polled agreed that the automobile attack in Charlottesville should be investigated as an act of domestic terrorism, and there was strong universal disagreement with the Klu Klux Klan — more than 90 percent among all political affiliations.
