Instead of simply answering the question honestly, and humbly, saying something about the sacrifices of our military and how he’s doing his best to honor them, Trump decided to trash past presidents with a lie, disrespecting both his predecessors and those who serve our country. Is there anything lower than trying to deflect attention from your own failings by spreading misinformation about others? Particularly when the subject is lost soldiers? Trump falsely claimed that previous presidents did not call the families of soldiers who were killed. He specifically named President Barack Obama. It’s not true. Four United States Army Special Forces soldiers were killed and two more were injured in an ambush by Islamic extremists earlier this month. When asked about contacting the families Trump said, “The traditional way, if you look at President Obama and other presidents, most of them didn’t make calls, a lot of them didn’t make calls.” Aides to Obama were quick to respond. Dan Pfeiffer said Trump is “a deeply disturbed ignoramus who is a pathological liar.” Ben Rhodes called Trump’s claim an “outrageous and disrespectful lie.” When confronted with the truth the president didn’t really back off. Or if he did, it was only a little, saying, “I don’t know if he did. No, no, no. I was told that he didn’t often and a lot of presidents don’t, they write letters.” The president could have tailored his response to highlight the honor and sacrifice of the military. Instead, he acted defensively, which is his default mode, attacking Obama and others and trying to make the story about himself. Because in Trump's mind nothing and no one is more important than him. Even when it is clear that some people are. Like those four lost soldiers. Im sure you cant find anything of him saying ALL police are bad.A month into his horrific 8yr run his Harvard Professor buddy had his neighbors call the cops when they seen him breaking into his own house.. The cops showed up and were very courteous and simply asked him to show proof he actually lived there.....he refused and was arrested... His own neighbors didn't recognize him so what were the cops to think? Obamas response....on national TV he called them Stupid Cops And 7yrs later Cops were being ambushed and killed while the nation rallied around the chant of Pigs in a blanket fry em in bacon... General kelly's son was killed and they heard nothing, then today CNN spinned it by saying obama had lunch with the kellys...yea, a year later, and only because kelly was a general. Trump honors the fallen while obama shit on them, period! More importantly, Trump is actually allowing them to win and crush the enemy, instead of having their hands tied. ISIS is almost finished in 7 or 8 months and we're making real strikes almost daily against islamist's, not just in syria and Iraq, but yemen(dozens killed 2 or 3 days ago), pakistan, and afghanistan, somalia, etc. We are truly slaughtering them on a global scale, it's wonderful!
