WVU
absolutely an over reaction as I knew it would be. The places they were calling for 2 feet+ got 7 inches. The places calling for 18 inches got 4 inches. The only places getting slammed are Mass and points north. Not Philly, Not New York, but that sounded great for news. Meanwhile all flights are canceled in Philly, Newark, and New York. What does that cost in damage? I would consider a lawsuit. Not sure who to sue, but the media blew this way out of control. Again. Sharp Square
Isn't it their job to have people prepared for the worse ? I mean if they under-react and MFers are dead all over and damage is extensive because of it they are crucified, no ? So i mean fuck be happy it wasn't as bad in many area's and damage was kept to a minimum and things are back to normal a hell of a lot quicker then it would have been if the storm was as believed to be early on. Just don't get it , down here in Cajun country when a hurricane is bearing down on us we are praying for the weather reports to be wrong and its not as bad as expected so we don't lose everything we have. Just seems like common sense to be happy to get off with a much more acceptable and lighter results storm wise.
WVU
No it is their job to predict the storm and so far they have done a shitty job doing that
milwaukee mike
saying it's a weather reporter's job to predict the weather is like saying it's a tout's job to predict the winner of a basketball game! forecasters of the weather, sports, stock market, interest rates, etc are just dumb lemmings for the most part
Betmonkey
Got to be damn near impossible to predict exactly what a storm like that will do. I agree give some worst case scenarios and let people do what they want with that info. Weather is a constantly changing bitch and we all know it is hard to predict what a bitch will do. WVU
the problem is these predictions affect much more than people's decisions on whether to stock up on canned foods.

Then when they say we are getting a few inches and we get 2 feet everyone will be bitching and moaning. Roads are still dangerous. Better to be safe than sorry. Not predicting the exact amount of snowfall isn't life or death.

Pretty simple. To declare it is mandatory to stay indoors and close your businesses when it isn't necessary is asinine.

marine biologist
Why not start a juice free snowfall thread West Virginny?Since you know everything in the world I'm sure setting the lines on how many inches should fall should be a piece of cake. bookbraker
We only got about 4 inches total monday and tuesday but it moved slow so I was salting in between. Saturday we had 6 inches here. It was still a very profitable 3 out of 4 days for me.
