maron
Writer comes across a very big statistical improbability. In it, the Patriots have fumbled much less than any other team by a wide margin. An almost impossible margin given everything else is equal. His contention is that it was not. He tracked it down to 2007 when Brady and Peyton introduced and got a rule change to go into effect. That rule change did the following. Before the rule, the home team was responsible for the balls for both team's offensive units. After the rule went into effect, the teams themselves took care of the balls they used for offense whether it was on the road or at home. The article is very long so I will link it.. http://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/blog/2015/the-new-england-patriots-mysteriously-became-fumble-proof-in-2007 I will create a separate thread in which the article is provided on our site with credit given to the author

BarryRunSome
Gotta agree with Sweep. I'm totally convinced Belicheat knew nothing about this. As sad as that is to admit, being how Fucking Douchey he is. I would have loved nothing more then Belicheat having his hands all over this. I really think he knew absolutely nothing. Brady is another story. I think it's entirely plausible that Brady let the ball guys know that "this is how I like it" And they did it on their own. Or it's entirely possible he flat out instructed them to do it.
milwaukee mike
they fumble less cause they dont run the fucking ball they ran the ball 438 times this season, which was 13th most out of 32 teams http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?seasonType=REG&offensiveStatisticCategory=RUSHING&d-447263-n=1&d-447263-o=2&d-447263-p=1&d-447263-s=RUSHING_ATTEMPTS_PER_GAME_AVG&tabSeq=2&season=2014&role=TM&Submit=Go&archive=false&conference=null&defensiveStatisticCategory=null&qualified=false
Guest boatboatboat
they fumble less per rush attempt than almost EVERY team in the league. They do this while playing in bad weather players who are fumble prone come fro other teams and play for NE while there the amount they fumble goes down. They leave NE and the amount they fumble goes back up

NFL Team Fumbles Per Game - New England (from teamrankings.com) 2014 = .9 (2nd) 2013 = 1.5 (24th) 2012 = .9 (5th) 2011 = .9 (4th) 2010 = .7 (1st) 2009 = 1.1 (4th) 2008 = 1.1 (4th) 2007 = .8 (1st) 2006 = 1.6 (22nd) 2005 = 1.4 (12th) 2004 = 1.4 (13th) 2003 = 1.5 (14th) If you read this then the average cost of a fumble is 4.65 points. (http://www.sportsquant.com/turnovers.htm) that's some compelling evidence that it all changed in 2007. would love to see the stats on ROAD fumbles per game starting in 2007... milwaukee mike
top 4 in turnover margin each of the last 5 years... why didn't anyone know about the deflated balls earlier? or was it kept hush hush like the steroid era in baseball, tiger woods' girls on the side, etc etc? i still think back and cringe about all the comments about the "juiced ball" while guys were gaining 50 pounds of muscle, chipmunk cheeks, roid rage, etc
