Is there any interest out there for autographed cards of deceased mlb’ers?

I went through what remaining autographs I had left, and didn’t sell years ago, which isn’t much.

I have autographed cards of the deceased players below. Some of them may have only had a few days sniff at the big leagues, but I lumped them in.

Jim fregosi 2 old

Dave Smith 2 heart attack

Jackie Brown old

Oscar Ozocar heart attack

Howard Hilton complications from hip surgery*sniff of mlb

Cliff young (car accident)

Gary Carter HOF 78 topps/he didn’t sign Cards made after 82, I believe.

John Marazano 2 fell down the steps and died.

Juan Bell kidney disease

Jim Beauchamp old

Todd Frohwirth stomach cancer

Riccardo Ingram brain cancer sniff of mlb

Frank Williams died from the flu

Steve Olin 2 died In the infamous spring training boat accident

Tim Crews died in the infamous spring training boat accident

Gus polidor died in a carjacking

Jimmy Reese was an extremely old former player

Anthony young brain tumor

Ken Ramos killed his wife then killed himself, sniff of mlb.

The only one I didn’t get in person was jimmy Reese, which I get via mail, 90 Bowman’s Card. Looks spot on.

Now none of them are psa certified or whatever they do now. If they were, they’d pass since I got them in person.

What’s the best play here? Make a death package or sell them individually? This would be via EBay.

I’m on the fence with these.

List them individually on eBay. You won’t make a fortune but actually deceased players autographed cards do quite well.

I’d list Polidor and Young at $12.95 and expect them to sell within a week.

The Reese card you mention is actually 1991 Bowman.

My kid got three or four autographs from Hawks players today at the game on a basketball. it will end up in the yard almost guaranteed. He is 7

I had a minor league ball signed by Todd Helton that ended up in the yard. Not that it would be worth anything but at the time the Rockies double A team played in new haven and our team went and met the team.

I also was thrown out of the stadium for heckling Josh Booty. Think I was 14.

I’d think they would go for significantly less than without a COA

Didn’t read list but will buy any Yankees players

I think the only Yankee is Oscar Osocar. I have two smaller boxes of players still alive. I’ll tell you the Yankee players. Columbus would play near me, and I have some stragglers. I’ll list them. You may be like I havent heard that name since I was 9. For example, pat kelly.

COA’s are easier to fake than autographs. Don’t think many out there are faking Gus Polidor autographs.

People collect complete sets of, say, 1988 Topps. The deceased players will get bought at a premium.

I wish the complete sets were worth something.

Me and my old man have every tools set from 1965 or 66 til 1998..

Older ones are worth something but most of the cards aren’t close to being mint. Was a hobby we had when I was a kid. Go to card shows and card shops with a list of the cards we needed to complete the set. And going through thousands of commons.

Remember getting excited around 96/97 ish with the internet and finding guys on boards and chat rooms that had what we needed to complete our sets.

Ha! You know the card! He’s on one knee wearing the away angels jersey. I think it’s the away one. That’s cool you know the card I’m talking about!

The same night I got tim Crews autograph, I caught don drysdale as well, on an nl mlb ball. Both were after a dodgers vs Phil’s game, while they left the park. I’m pretty sure it was the same season Don died. That was sold mid 90’s.

Sucks, but I still have the memories, for now!

My father still collects anything Yankees. I’ll pay for any ya kee autos. Not gonna overpay for some scrub. But we can work something out.

I know my mass produced late 80s early 90s cards pretty well.

Remember the year mattingly was hurt and yanks called up Kevin Maas?

One of his rookie cards was like $15/20 and my father wouldn’t buy it for me. I was pissed. He ended up buying me an fee packs and I got the Maas card. I was pumped.

Worth about half a cent now. I’m sure I still have it in a screw down case somewhere too :laugh

A kid, who was two years younger than me, was trying to complete a 91 topps set. I think it was 91. It was the first year they went to the different card stock that wasn’t as cardboard. I lost touch with him a million years ago.

I mean a complete set of 1988 Topps where every single card is autographed. All 792. It can’t be easy and like I said, the deceased players sell for a premium on eBay.

BAUS, you seem knowledgeable and may appreciate my misfortunes.

I traded the kid across the street the Nintendo game operation wolf, for a 62 or 63 Mets ball signed by the “team”. I say team because I never cross referenced each sig on the ball, but it was filled.

Official Spaulding ball, Stengel on the sweet spot, Gil Hodges, and whoever else. Not faded.,I sold it for about $200 in the late 90’s.

I wish I had that still. It was a nice one.
