Dolphins.

Tannehill will return from injury and ascend into the upper echelon of quarterbacks leading the Dolphons to a surprise 12-4 record and AFC East title.

Whats your opinion on Baker Mayfield?  There is a big rumor the Dolphins want to draft him.

Seems like Miami is trying to move on from Tannehill.

The media say Tannehill is hard to figure out.

The good....He has set/broken many of Marino's records Most passing completions in a single season,Highest completion percentage in a single season and career,Most passing yards and attempts in a rookie season, etc. all those were Dolphins team records he broke of Marinos. Tannehill also set an NFL record with 25 consecutive completions. Also has a perfect game 158.3 passer rating vs Texans in Oct. 2015 in that game he has highest completion percentage ever for a perfect game (94.7%) as well as only QB to have three TDs of 50+ yards in a game.

The bad.....Drafted 2012 he has an overall record of 37-40 a losing one,of the 5 seasons he has played only one was a winning overall mark of 8-5.

Eagles....back to back

Wentz will be hungry....

They very well could repeat. It won't be easy......

2018 schedule has at LA Rams,at New Orleans,Minnesota,Carolina,Atlanta  all 5 of those are top NFC teams that made playoffs last year. They also play the AFC South which includes 2 more playoff teams Tennessee and Jacksonville who have a number one defense. Houston will have JJ Watt back and QB Deshaun Watson. Indy Colts could have Andrew Luck back. Then their division they play Dallas 2 times that wont be easy. Washington 2 times wont be easy they have added Alex Smith. The Giants will be tougher. They also play Tampa and Winston.

Steelers fan.

I don’t expect much to change, they’re a playoff team again and anything less than making it to the SB will be seen as a disappointment.

Steelers have a tough slate that includes Carolina,Atlanta,New Orleans,New England,Jacksonville,Kansas City all 6 teams made the playoffs last year and also have Denver,LA Chargers,Oakland,Tampa Bay plus Cincy,Baltimore and Cleveland twice.

Bucs fan here.

I love our chances...to land another high draft pick.

You guys will face Atlanta 2 times,Carolina 2 times,New Orleans 2 times,Philly,Pittsburgh thats 8 games vs playoff teams and also faces San Francisco who won all their games with Garoppolo,Dallas who had a winning record and almost made playoffs last year,NY Giants,Baltimore and Cleveland,Chicago.

Overall thats a very tough schedule against 10 teams with winning season last year and 8 made the postseason.

You have a point but they did beat all those teams except NO last year....it will be tougher....and the Eagles had all their coordinators hired by other teams....

considering the style of play and 3500 yard seasons becoming the new norm those records don't really mean much. He is average at best and simply doesn't make the big plays necessary to succeed. You can do alot worse then average at QB, go ask the browns so the dolphins have no option but to stick with him until something better comes there way which just might be Baker

Giants. Not much expectations really.... Broken locker room ATM.

Yeah lots of internal issues they have OBJ all over the media he just got caught on camera with a woman and drugs recently plus the Eli Apple situation not sure if him and Landon Collins were arguing and not getting along but it was one of those guys on defense.

Strange thing about the Giants is how they crashed so quickly after years of doing well but around 2012 after their second title under Coughlin they faded. They won the title after going 9-7 in 2011,the next year they were 9-7 again it was if they were they were struggling to stay above .500

The last 6 years the Giants have only made the playoffs one time and were 3-13 last year.

They play Carolina,New Orleans,Atlanta,Jacksonville,Tennessee,Philly twice,Dallas twice altogether thats 9 games against either playoff teams or teams with winning records last year. You could say 10 games because they play the 49ers who were undefeated the second part of the year with Garoppolo. They also play Indy who could have Luck back at QB. They play Houston who will have JJ Watt back as well as their new QB Watson who played really well last year before tearing his ACL. They play Washington who will have new QB Alex Smith. They play Winston and the Bucs and finally the Bears.

Not an easy schedule.

Always been a Raider fan.

Having said that, I don't give a FUCK about the NFL, it's teams or it's players anymore. The NFL's concern for it's fans shows in the ticket and concession prices it charges.

I only care about the NFL for gambling purposes.

The Raiders were my favorite team from the mid 80's to the late 90's and after Titans came along in '99 i still considered mysef a big fan of theirs and kept up with what they were doing. Speaking of the Raiders it was John Madden's birthday yesterday he turned 82 the man who helped turn the team into a powerhouse in the 1970's.

Madden was the youngest coach ever to reach 100 career regular season victories. Second place in NFL history in win percentage as coach and never had a losing season. Still has most wins in Raiders history of all coaches. Whats mind boggling is although he coached only 10 years he led the Raiders to 7 AFC Championship Games in 1969,1970,1973,1974,1975,1976,1977 and 1 Super Bowl win 1976.

During the Super Bowl era two coaches have displayed pure dominance with a franchise without ever enduring losing and thats Madden and Belichick. Could add Bill Walsh he had a couple down years before dominating. Landry,Shula and Noll were all great for a period before fizzling out.

I always loved how the Raiders were mavericks and how Al Davis bucked the system. The Raiders were always known to get down, dirty and were fearless. Some of my favorites include The Snake Kenny Stabler,Jack Tatum,Lester Hayes,Ted Hendricks,John Matuzak,Lyle Alzado,Cliff Branch,Howie Long,Jim Plunkett,Marcus Allen,Todd Christenson,Bo Jackson,Charles Woodson,Khalil Mack,Derek Carr, etc.

5 Super Bowl appearances and 3 time World Champions.

Although they are moving again if any place fits the Raiders it would be Vegas/Sin City.

HOW could you reel off all those names and forget FRED BILETNIKOFF?

Speaking of the Raiders how do you feel about Gruden coming back,Hoffa?

I like Gruden but...

The BEST coaches can't win without talent. The WORST coaches can win with talent.

In other words, if Vince Lombardi came back tomorrow, he still couldn't make a difference with the Browns, Bears, etc. So I don't really think coaching matters as much as people think, if you haven't got talent you can't win.

Agreed. I've learned a lot since starting to play/watch football starting in 1984/1985 at 10 years old. I loved it so much i started collecting football cards, reading magazines, watching games and a shitload of NFL documentaries. I learned all the teams, what division they played in,the whole nine yards.

I believe as you do the players trump everything. For instance George Seifert was head coach of the highly talented 49ers winning 98 games and losing only 30 a highly successful winning percentage. He went to 2 Super Bowls winning both in his 8 years and he made it to the playoffs 7 out of 8 seasons. A decade later he coached Carolina Panthers 3 seasons and all were losing seasons.

Players/Roster talent was the reason he was successful one place and terrible at another place....there was far more talented players on the 49ers than were on the Panthers and the 49ers were led by Joe Montana who had played many years meanwhile the Panthers were led by a rookie who was playing his first year Chris Weinke.

Same goes for Belichick. He is no different.

From 1991 to 1995 Bill Belichick coached the Cleveland Browns 5 seasons and he had 4 losing and 1 winning and overall was unsuccessful as a head coach there going 36-44 overall and was 5-11 in his last season there.

Well around 5 years later he went to New England to coach in 2000 and in his first season was 5-11. Now overall he is 41-55.

So Belichick went 5-11 in his last season at Cleveland gets a new coaching gig and his first year there 5-11 again.

Going into 2001 Belichick is 41-55 overall and in 6 full seasons coaching has just one winning season and only been to the playoffs once.

Whats even crazier is he loses his first 2 games of the 2001 season. Also so far he has 5 wins and 13 losses so far in 18 games coaching New England with Drew Bledsoe as his starter.

Going into the third game of the 2001 season Belichick is 41-57 overall in his coaching career in his 7th season.

Something is about to change though because a Jets defender Mo Lewis knocked Drew Bledsoe out of the game injuring him and the backup is gonna play second year QB Tom Brady.

From 2001 in the third game of the season Tom Brady starts at QB and with a better starter in Brady all the sudden Belichick and the Patriots are doing better. Its clear Brady is way better than Bledsoe and so from 2001 all the way through 2017 Belichick has had one consistent starter Tom Brady and thats been the same for 17 years now and his record during that span is 209-62.

So lets look at Bill Belichick record with and without QB Tom Brady........

Belichick record without Tom Brady----41 wins and 57 losses with 5 losing seasons and 1 winning season with 1 playoff berth and 1win

Belichick record with Tom Brady----209 wins and 61 losses with 0 losing seasons and 17 winning seasons with 15 playoff berth and  27 wins that include going to 12 AFC Championship games,8 times AFC Champions,8 Super Bowl appearances and 5 Super Bowl wins.

Adding Belichicks overall record he has 250 wins 118 losses.

Hoffa you are definitely right if you don't have the talent you can't win.

Before Belichick started playing Brady he was on a fast track to the NFL scrap heap of failed head coaches.

I think its safe to say that Tom Brady made Bill Belichick successful. Before Brady he had a losing record going into his 7th season.

In a nutshell for those who don't want to read my long post.......

September 1991 Belichick coaches 1st game

September 23,2001 Brady plays when Bledsoe the starter is knocked out of game. Brady has been QB ever since which is 17 years now.

Belichick was 10 years into coaching before he started winning regularly.

I think its safe to say that Tom Brady made Bill Belichick successful. Before Brady he had a losing record going into his 7th season.

The second part of the nutshell is about Ex 49ers/Panthers head coach George Seifert.....

George Seifert was head coach of the very talented 49ers winning 98 games and losing only 30 a highly successful winning percentage. He went to 2 Super Bowls winning both in his 8 years and he made it to the playoffs 7 out of 8 seasons. A decade later he coached Carolina Panthers 3 seasons and all were losing seasons.

There was far more talented players on the 49ers than were on the Panthers and the 49ers were led by QB Joe Montana who had played many years meanwhile the Panthers were led by a rookie QB who was playing his first year Chris Weinke.

So we could say overall that players are what ultimately makes a team successful not a head coach.

I'm not sure about you guys but in terms of the most important positions on a football team besides ownership/CEO what order would you put them in?

Myself i would start out with the GM.

1. GM--The GM can make or break a football team depending on how good that GM is in terms of finding talent on offense and defense and the most important spot would be at QB of course. Most of the time besides picking the QB the GM also hires the head coach.

2. QB--The QB is the heart of the team and leader and if he is good and keep the team scoring points and competiting they have a good shot at winning games. If the QB fails it can put the head coach at a disadvantage because he is losing games.

3. HC--The head coach runs everything but he is only as good as the talent including QB that his GM gives him to put on the field. Also important is how good of a leader the QB is on the field as well as off the field. If the QB plays well and leads well the head coach benefits if he doesn't then the coach fails. So the head coach succeeds or fails based on how well the players are the GM drafts and that includes the QB.
