A couple years back it looked like he might finally be making the right moves when he hired Scot McCloughan as GM as he has done great in the past helping teams rebuild. Well there was some conflicts on the inside with president Bruce Allen and some murky excuses were made for McCloughans dismissal. There were also disagreements about former QB Kirk Cousins who the Skins should've paid but ended up tagging him a couple times. So when the smoke clears they end up with QB Alex Smith who is good but i would've kept Cousins as he was younger and could be better as well. I think they have enough talent to hover around .500 and Bovada/Vegas have them winning 7 games. Schedule includes Eagles twice,Cowboys twice, Packers,Saints,Jaguars,Falcons,Texans,Titans,Cards, etc.
Machiavelli
Mike, is it me or is this one of those drafts that do not seem flashy or anything but will produce several key, underrated starter types?
Mike75
Mike, is it me or is this one of those drafts that do not seem flashy or anything but will produce several key, underrated starter types? That can happen at times. Not sure just yet on this one but i do think the first three players DT Payne,RB Guice and OT Christian will all end up being long time starters in Washington. Shaun Hamilton i like him a lot and he could stick a long time.
Mike75
The Washington Redskins were once one of the premier franchises in the NFL. Maybe even No. 1 on that list for a time. It’s not like Washington’s proud history has been forgotten. Fans of a certain age still talk about the Joe Gibbs era, the amazing 1991 team that Mark Rypien led to glory, how the RFK Stadium stands used to bounce and shake for big games. But success has led to frustration during Daniel Snyder’s time as owner, and that frustration has led to something even worse: apathy. According to the Associated Press and Washington Post, fans have tuned out the Redskins to the point that you can call now and buy season tickets. There’s no waiting list anymore. According to the Post, the Redskins sent an email to fans saying, “Season Ticket Memberships will be immediately available to all Redskins fans.” At its peak, the team had over 200,000 names on a waiting list to get tickets. The Redskins ranked 28th in the NFL last season at 88 percent capacity. Owner Dan Snyder himself is a problem. The team has made an amazing number of public relations mistakes over the years (a story about mistreatment of cheerleaders being the latest), It’s hard to imagine a less popular owner than Snyder. In the Super Bowl era from 1966 through 1998 the Redskins were one of the NFL's top teams historically when the '98 season ended the Skins had 20 winning seaons,14 postseason appearances,6 NFC Championship appearances,5 Super Bowl appearances with 3 Super Bowl wins. Starting in 1999 when owner Dan Snyder bought and started running the team since then they have a pitiful 5 winning seasons/postseason appearances over nearly 20 years and last won a playoff game in 2005. Since 2008 over the past ten years they have had just two playoff appearances.
KingRevolver
They don't have the easiest schedule. I think they'll underperform this year. Probably win 6 games, at the most. They're certainly not going to do anything spectacular with Alex Smith.
theguesser
They are my early candidate for worst record in the NFL.
KingRevolver
They are my early candidate for worst record in the NFL. Well, I wouldn't go that far... I think 6 games about right.
