milwaukee mike
There is so much variance in tournaments that staking is a no-brainer. Everyone does it. If its not a direct stake then most are swapping pieces for sure Check out youstake.com Unfortunately that site is banned in NJ i'm well aware that many people stake, but everyone doesn't do it allowing people to have pieces of others is just one of the many ethical problems with poker tournaments... 8 guys left and 3 of them have pieces of each other, they certainly aren't playing the same way they would if it was straight up... someone could easily have a much higher stake in one of his opponents than in himself, talk about a recipe for corruption

JAKEPEAVY21
why do people stake without a iron clad contract? I have heard too many staking horror stories over the years. I remember about 10 years ago, 6 time wsop bracelet winner Jeff Lisandro staked this dumb broad Tiffany Michelle to the main event(probably because he was fukking her or wanted to). Anyhow, she made a very deep run and made a few hundred thousand and stiffed him(no pun intended).
sweeper
There's a thread right now on 2+2 with a guy selling 70% to the main and people are paying him with Venmo....only has about 15% left to sell. Seems shady at best

There is bound to be something for poker staking. Isn't there an IRS form that can be used to define a gambling venture. It allows the casino to split the money so one person doesn't take the full tax hit on the winnings. Gamblers like to believe their own legendary stories about their integrity. A gambler is a man of his word and a handshake is sufficient to make a deal.

I've heard that the casinos don't like doing it also. The casino wouldn't have to have the handle the forms in advance. When the money is paid, the winner and friends would present the forms to the casino. The casino would only have to do multiple W2G forms. Not that much of a burden. I guess the players are OK with how it is done now.
MonkeyF0cker
i have heard that most casinos don't want to mess with that can you imagine the rio dealing with thousands of forms with split arrangements? Never heard of a casino catering IRS forms to non-players. Between players chopping at a final table? Sure. But for stakers? Not their problem.
