yes both Hand and Cimber are quality relievers, we have a throng of them.

Hand has a rubber arm and can pitch multiple innings and days in a row which sets him apart from a lot of other closers/relievers.

Cimber throws sidearm and has been pretty impressive in his maiden campaign.

your bullpen just got a lot better and once Miller gets healthy it could change from a liability to a strength.

Mejia has a nice bat.  It seems at least in Cleveland he was struggling some mechanically behind the plate and they didn't think he would make it as an everyday guy back there on the game calling/defensive side.

But he was a defensive disaster when they tried him at 3B so then next best case was OF.  He def got somewhat lost in the muddle in Tribe land so this may end up being the best thing for him, maybe SD can turn him into an everyday catcher defensively.

Not sure his power tool translate the same at 3B or OF as it did at catcher with the depth of those positions he become a little more average prospect wise it seems. Could be one of those trades that both teams actually win.

Cleveland had to make a move and sure up the pen these days proven guys there don't come cheap esp with multi years of control at a fair price like Hand has.

Pads gonna have such a nice little future when all these top prospects are ready.

Padres have 10 of the top 100 prospects in all of MLB and 7 in the top 50...not all will pan out but this is the way they have to build a team, from the farm system.

padres are loaded in the minors.  good get for them.  whether he plays catcher or not, guy can rake.  38 hrs one year.

good get for the friars.

I'm looking at his minor league stats and I'm not seeing anywhere close to 38 homers in a single year...he has less then 50 homers in his minor league career.

Most homers he has ever had in a season was 14 and he has only hit more than 10 once.  His hit tool ranks fairly well but there are def questions as to what kind of power hitter he will be which is why his bat plays up for now only at catcher and no one is sure he can defend enough to stay there everyday in bigs.

At 3B or OF he could end up being league avg or below power wise and most likely that or worse defensively. So a good prospect but not without his ? marks.
