Agree with Jd. Just do the keto thing yourself. I've done it for 6 months twice and have currently been doing it for about 3 weeks. You can still eat like a king. Plenty of steaks, chicken, fish, burgers (without the bun), salads, etc.

It's not as hard as you'd think.

its brutal on your body though. Every study shows that ketosis based diets can take years off your life if done long enough and frequently enough. No beer either. Pass.

" Every study shows that ketosis based diets can take years off your life if done long enough and frequently enough." If you happen to have any links please share. Very interested reading about this.

No problem. A lot of these studies started coming out recently too - given that there wasnt long term studies on it until recently completed one

Ive done the no carb thing numerous times throughout my life and nothing makes weight fall off faster for me. I do 10 days on 2 days off for roughly 2 months and thats usually enough to get me from 215 to 195. Then I go back to eating carbs but in moderation and can hold off the weight until I go to Vegas or visit my folks or holidays.

It's all too generic.  If you're on a low carb diet and getting the right nutrients (eating a lot of vegetables and balancing your diet), it can't be worse for you than a sugar-laden diet.  If you're eating mostly animal fats, it can certainly be detrimental to you.

If you're not losing a lot of weight and it's a temporary diet - not long term, surely it won't have a significant impact on your lifespan.

yes, duration and frequency are important. People that are obese and on it will receive more health benefits from not being obese than the negative attributes of the diet. But frequently people put the weight back on and then go back on the diet - they yoyo their weight and eat unhealthy which is a deadly combination for the heart.. most people aren't replacing the lack of carbs with healthy proteins - it's usually meat.

The no beer thing is hard but at least can be replaced with hard alcohol. The only negative thing my doc warned me about was if i had any prior kidney problems (which I dont), then I would want to watch my proteins.

The 2 times i did it I was about 20-25 lbs overweight (far from obese) and I did it with plenty of cheat meals and a few beer fests so it was pretty easy and afterwards I felt great.

dont see how that would work. maybe 3-4 drinks a week total.............but if you are dieting and getting drunk then you wont be losing weight

An alcoholic drink is a drink that contains ethanol, a type of alcohol produced by fermentation of grains, fruits, or other sources of sugar. Drinking alcohol plays an important social role in many cultures. Most countries have laws regulating the production, sale, and consumption of alcoholic beverages. Wikipedia
