Boxing is dead, eh?

I’ve talked to Floyd as well, the only wisdom he ever imparted on me was how could anyone ever lose parlaying the 3-4 biggest money line favorites on an NBA card.

That’s a true story by the way.

Yeah??

May I ask the circumstances behind this convo? Not sure who you are or what you do, but was this a random meeting or through a mutual contact?

Monkey must've killed it when it came to the SAT questions:

Monkey A eats 5 bananas. Monkey B eats 2 bananas. Monkey C watches them. How many monkeys like bananas?

A: 1

B: 0

C: 3

D: My grandpappy hated bananas, therefore no one likes them.

Yeah, you’ve made yourself clear on this. You taking a broken record approach because that’s all you got.

Boxing is dead. Used to be water cooler talk. Nobody cares anymore. That’s it.

Don’t use soccer as a crutch, that’s apples and oranges.

Used to work in the sportsbook business, when Money May was still “Floyd” he used to make his NBA ML parlay bets at places like Arizona Charlie’s and the Orleans. I had him as a customer at Caesars a few times and he actually seemed like a decent enough guy.

He really seemed to adopt the Money May persona as real life around the time of the Diego Corrales (also a Caesars customer) fight. Only saw him once or twice after that and he was pretty much a dick.

When he started making big money is when he greatly increased his bets and really started losing big. The M has historically held 13%+ on his wagers, and I was told that by 2 different sportsbook managers there, one of whom I considered a friend that would have no reason to lie about it.

So Floyd was right... everyone hates you when you're at the top?

I think that's correct to an extent.  Many people love an underdog.  Thus they cheer against those who are on top.

But I think most people appreciate a champ who is humble and does good things outside the arena.

That's not Pretty Boy Floyd.  By almost every account.

Appreciate the further details and such.

Thank you kindly!

No, seriously, pal...

The fuckin' guy said Ali wasn't hated. I mean, really? You agree with that crock of shit? Absolute nonsense.

Then his big proof was that his grandfather was a fan.

The topic is if boxing is dead. Ali is a small sample. Does it really matter if he was hated or not?

This era is valued less than his.

And valued less now than any other time.
