I recall being turned down for a Chase branded card( I think it was marathon gas stations) with the reason being "anticipated costs exceed expected profit", which apparently means they caught on to the fact i'd never paid them a dime in interest, while maximizing my bonus/rewards. I thought, wow, they're finally wising up?

even without interest these guys are making tons of money in processing fees... but if you play the games and get the bonuses, then quit using the card they lose a bit

$3000 in charges, they get about $60 and give away $500... just like a sportsbook, they are hoping you keep playing

Basically i never give them  anything, each category is maximized - so this qtr chase is giving 5% on gas while getting maybe 2.5% in fee's , they're losing money. next qtr I'll stop using their card for gas(I'll start using my BOA card and get 3% from them). I still have 4 chase cards, they just didn't want to give me another for obvious reasons.

i have paid interest in the past on a credit card, but that's because back in the early 1990s interest rates were a lot higher, and i used those credit card checks for 1.9%

Me too, i've never paid a penny of real interest, but back in the late 90's through about 2008 i was doing the cash advance thing bigtime, At one time I had over 70K borrowed on my cards at either 0 or the 1.9% you mentioned, Back then you could still make 5 or 6% sitting in cash, so i was making a couple hundred a month off the scam.

I figured the credit card co's were paying my phone, cable, and garbage bills with more to spare. I miss those days.

Just got back from home depot, I was getting a ceiling fan and some other lighting.....cashier tell me if I sign up for their cc and get approved she'll take $30 off the bill and if my wife doe the same it doubles to $60

Took less then 5min and we were both approved.....saved $60 jut like that....no annual fee, pay it off 1st bill and cut it up

I love free money..

Well done, I could never run up that kind of bill however.

Long story, but these particular purchases were not for us and we get reimbursed for them within the week with cash.

This card was only in my name.  We got another one in my wife's name and did the exact same thing.  Over a free $1k for doing absolutely nothing.
