mikeman
If they are a billionaire, do they need their fair share of SS? Well, the way the system is set up, the amt's you earn over the course of your lifetime determine eventual benefits, really poor people who earned very little get small checks in retirement, high wage earners might get 3-4-5 times as much. Are you saying that those poor saps who currently get $1000 checks should get maybe $4K, and those high earners who now get $4k should get a measly grand? Bigrunner
Or at least raised, of course doing so would mean that rich people would get huge SS checks when they retire, or are you opposed to giving them their fair share? There are several things they could and should do, raise the income cap, tax benefits more for the wealthy, and raise the retirement age a bit more.Low info post. SS benefits are capped at around $2,900 in 2019. Raising the income cap won't lead to higher benefits for billionaires.

But raising the cap wouldn't be for raising benefits. It would be for raising revenues to help fund an upside down program going forward. So many baby boomers are now retired and collecting benefits. More people retired then ever before. And any excess revenues can be used for the WALL.
