I'll guess the US has less than 5,000 deaths by the end of the year. important to remember that 'end of the year' includes the resurgence that we are almost guaranteed to see in the fall. we cant completely stamp it out, even china hasnt done that, and travel to/from other countries with cases is going to fuel more outbreaks through the summer, in localized, whack-a-mole fashion. test, track and trace has to be used meticulously until a vaccine is developed. which wont be until next summer. would love to believe 5k is possible, but i cant see how we escape with under 40k dying total. and hopefully not too much more than that.
