Will Giarardi's Last Year Kill the Yankess for the Next Five?

I have been of the opinion had the Boss still been alive that Joe would not be here this year. With substantial pressure to produce, he will most certainly pitch his starters too much. Will some of the more fragile ones like Tanaka suffer from it? I saw him hit the wall last year before the injury finished him off.

I just think that a manger fighting for his job will put his needs over the Franchises. The Yankees should really exercise restraint with pitch counts with their starters but will not this year.

Am I wrong in this?

He's not fighting for his job. Hank and Hal have full confidence in him. And thought he did a great job with all the injuries the last two years. They are rebuilding the farm system which was much needed. Hank and Hal aren't george. It doesnt matter what george would have done. Girardi loves his pen so why the hell would he over pitch "fragile" Tanaka? Who is perfectly fine apparently.

If anything girardi goes to pen to early imo. No reason to think he's going to change now. They just signed him to a 4 yr deal last year or the year before and Steinbrenner's aren't going to eat that money anyways.

The difference in between hank and his dad is that his dad spent most of his money making the team better while hank is a cheap fuck who wont spend on free agents or high end international prospects anymore so that his bank account can grow. Girardi did a great job last year, the yankees suck.

Hank and Hal have signed Sabathia arod texeira Burnett McCann ellsbury Beltran tanaka. Since They basically took over in 2008.

Now they are rebuilding the farm system

While still staying competitive. They just spent a boat load of money on free agents. They went way over the allotted money they were allowed to spend. And will pay the fines for it.

They are trying to build a young core before they go out and spend 100 million in free agents. Teams are buying out arbitration years with their young superstars now And signing them to long term deals. So you can't go out and get 4-5 big free agents in a year or two anymore.

The knock on Girardi has always been he over uses the pen and tinkers with the line up to much.

FTR I'm not a big fan of girardi. But they guy did a great job the last two years with what he had. Only problem I had last year was batting Jeter 2nd. His rotation and lineup were a mess. They came in 2nd despite the injuries and a minus run differential.
