I would completely agree with this in reference to college sports.

College athletes go 110% to get noticed, drafted and paid.

Once professional, there is less incentive to risk injury and play with recklessness.

Your basis of argument about betting totals is that players only care about winning. It's far from the truth. That back wants his 100 yards, so does that receiver. Individual accomplishments are also cooked into players contracts. I think you're off base here in a major way.

32 men control the NFL.

Can we stipulate that they all want to win?

Can we also stipulate that the league is bigger than the players?

If so...

The 32 men direct 32 general managers who direct 32 coaches.

These 96 men control every aspect of the game and only care about winning.

They don't care about points, fantasy stats or anything else.

Teams don't care if they score 90 or 9, whatever wins the game is what they make decisions based upon.
