Your basis of argument about betting totals is that players only care about winning. It's far from the truth. That back wants his 100 yards, so does that receiver. Can we also stipulate that the league is bigger than the players? If so... The 32 men direct 32 general managers who direct 32 coaches. These 96 men control every aspect of the game and only care about winning. They don't care about points, fantasy stats or anything else.
