Just got back from vegas

Thought I'd give a few highlights and make a few comments. Flew sun country air and they are far superior to spirit ( only blacks and other losers fly spirit), they still give a complementary beverage  and my flights    were a breeze.

Perhaps the only luck I had was at the airport to take the city bus downtown - a guy getting off handed me his fare card that was good for another couple hours - saved 2 large!

Stayed at the ultra luxurious El Cortez(fully comped), room was nice, the gambling was another story - I now know how KK feels because they bent me over good. The  F'n machines( mostly ultimate X vp) literally stole my money with very meager payouts. I held my own at BJ, should;ve stuck to that like i used to. I lost over $2000 for the trip and 90% was at the cortez. I ran low on money and did the ATM, then lost that and had to do it again - because I'd reached my daily limit I had to do the cash advance on the credit card, they bent me over again for a $34 fee on  $500. What could i do, I'm not going to sit in the room and watch TV? Then to top it off when I tried to do the cash advance it was declined so i went to the cashier to ask what's going on and she looked at me like a total gambling degenerate.

Turned out BOA thought it was suspicious and I had to confirm it wasn't fraud. The cortez was pretty hopping, last night for sanko de mayo(?) they had a mariachi band in the casino and the mexicans were drunk and festive. lots of people with the silly straw hats, I didn't partake in that as I sat at my machine with my drink and mumbled to myself non stop. I must say the cortez restaurant sucks, slow service, mediocre food, if it's luke warm you're lucky.

Downtown was it's usual trashy self, lots of nasty women in skimpies hustling money and a fair amount of beggars. Saw one black guy in his 50's staggering around in the middle of the road giving cars the finger, etc, he has life clocked. The gambling in other places downtown seems to have gone downhill - BJ rules are bad most places, limits are high, several placed didn't even have tables open till late morning - the Main Street doesn't even have any tables except on the weekend.

I had $100 of free food from the cortez so I had breakfast there every day as well as a burger and their prime rib, I also finally tried Le Thai - thought it was very good, and ate at Linai express at the fremont - more quick chinese.

In short it was a good trip but it sucks to lose constantly, I'm going back in july.

One more comment - the one casino downtown I didn't go into was the Circa, it was because they ask everyone for an ID(they scan it), why the heck should I hop  to their stupid requests at 11 am on a wed for example, they're not doing me a favor by letting me in.

They got none of my 2 grand donation to the vegas economy.

Covid killed the buffet, I was told it wont be back - they're renovating the room into something else. The only buffet is at the main st station, but they only have brunch during the week and want $21, that's crazy, that was the one place that seemed dead, i guess the Plaza did too but they always are.

If I ever pay $21 bucks for a downtown buffet please have me shot.

Years ago you could usually grab a down on her luck lady at the Plaza's Omaha Lounge and take her for a whirl. Easy pickens at 3am.  Sad to hear the place is dead...

I remembered one other tidbit, I was sitting at the long bar at the D playing VP, it was prob late morning, place was fairly dead, they had two bartenders but maybe 3-4 customers total, so they had nothing to do. A black guy comes over and asks the bartender for a lemon wedge, obviously for some drink he has the requires one, the bartender refused and said "we just dont give fruit away". The guy was clean cut and clearly not some bum that has wandered in off the street, i thought what a prick so I cashed out and left. There was no reason for the bartender to refuse a tiny little lemon wedge, awful customer service.

The cortez had much better bartenders, yesterday i was seated at the bar by the front desk next to a pretty liitle black girl, she was very young, she was plinking away 1 25 cent credit at a time playing video keno - picking 3 or 4 numbers(which is kinda ridiculous since if it hits she'll win like $11), anyway she was drinking vodka cranberry, she slammed down one and maybe 4 min later asked in a very sweet voice "sir can I have another" he gave her another, maybe 4 min  later she asks for another - boom another drink put away, finally maybe 6 min later she asks for another - the bartender said without being mean "you're not playing enough to earn one, I can tell by these lights, can you please at least make it look good so I dont get in trouble"

She was slamming down the free drinks and he was friendly and obliging, i dont even think she was tipping him either. that's good customer service.

lots of good food downtown, the chicago brewing company at the 4 queens is excellent, poster fisshead can vouch for it.  Also a few of the places at the never mentioned Golden Nugget are solid.  White Castle always worth a visit.

Why not go to Oscars for a steak??

Le Thai is great, Mike.  One of my favorite restaurants in Vegas.  Solid choice.

I prefer the 2 deck game at the cortez but most of their tables are single, single deck is too slow, you get at most 2 hands if the table is close to full, I played plenty of BJ but the game is not as exciting as it once was.

I didn't play the slots, maybe $75 total, most of it was either regular VP of my nemesis the ultimate X.

And fuck the circa, I already walked through last year, it's beautiful, but I'm not gonna go in again if they want me to identify myself because they are trying to look cool.

I dont care about food, not even a little, my only thought is what can I eat fast and cheap, I go there to gamble and drink.,  the cortez has a nice steak but the service is slow and I just dont want to sit there twiddling my thumbs for an hour or more.

I’ve never had White Castle but understand them to taste pretty much give or take like a Krystal.  If true, anybody that recommends either has just lost all food credibility with me.

Most visiting people are there to drink and gamble.  Not stand in line for gumbo and oysters for hours, or rush there at 10am for lunch.

I did walk into white castle, because of the time difference i eat dinner mid afternoon but by mid evening I'm starting to get hungry, so i almost pulled the trigger on sliders but then remembered lenai express, so i had that instead.
