The X
All the pitches they see in everyday.
Sharp Square
Yeah but its really offset by the amount of work they have to put into calling the game and handling the pitching staff. Not to mention the beating they take behind the plate which often alters their production hitting.
The X
Very true. But you would think they would have the best read on pitches. And be able to pick up pitches a lot easier for the simple fact they see so many.
tripp
Tough on your body to catch. Even when you do have a great hitting catcher the smart thing to do is change their position so they keep their value at the plate (Harper came up as a catcher but switched to the OF on the Nats for this reason)

zzmocashzz
maybe there are already better hitters, just not talented hitters
Hangover
Catching a baseball a game during the summer months is absolutely brutal. Some of those guys shed pounds during the game so you can imagine they are not going to be the best hitters throughout the course of a season.
