you guys are smoking to much you should never ever compare eras from 100 years ago come on the game just evolved so much better

those guys were not even throwing 100 mph they were just throwing like its softball completely different game and these guys like today not jacked up

some some skinny farming kids

If those guys were alive today they would be in as great a shape as todays players are, their diet would be better, they would be just as big as today's players.

You move mike trout back into the 1920's and he'd look just like they did.

So at what era does the line get drawn where now it counts?  Does Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, Sandy Koufax, Whitey Ford just not count bc they played in the 50s?  Pitchers have always been able to throw heat, curves, splitters, change ups.

You to respect the eras for what they played against and dominated at.  Baseball players were serving in the war back then too.  Hand eye coordination and athletic ability would translate to any generation.

I had the same argument with a black guy in his 60s years back about the NBA.  I was trolling him about Dirk being a top 20 of all time.  He spent like 20 min writing a list of at least 20 PFs from the 70s that he thought were better than Dirk.

maybe you have a point but still do you see how they throw the ball they have no combinations all they do is just throw the ball to the plate no curve ball no sliders , no splits , no cutter , just fastball the wind up and just throw the ball like 60-70 mph no power at all

id like to see babe ruth hit like that when he sees the ball coming twice the speed

Nolan ryan pitched 50 years ago and he threw harder than todays guy's do 100+, no one knows how fast guys pitched in the 30's or 40's.

People today are dumber than people back then, no reason to think a well trained athlete back then would be worse than today.

HUH, LOL

i am saying the way those guys were pitching compared to today is a big land slide

when guys throws the pitches ruth even walks 2 steps before hitting the ball how the hell you do that cuz those guys are throwing lolipups softballs not baseballs

throwing at 60 mph anyone can hit even make 2-3 steps walking towards the pitch and hit it like baberuth does

but try and hit 100 mph will see how easy it is

Ok, answer this, the stadiums back then were far bigger than today - some stadiums had fences close to 500 ft away, I dont think the balls were more bouncy, how did they hit them out with slow pitching and weak players?

I look at it this way, there were players in the 40's who played into the 60's, there were players in the 60's who played in the 1980's, continue the trend - there's no evidence that the older generation in each time period were inferior to the new guys.
