COOL

When Mikeman visits, he avoids Circa, LOL

I always stay at the plaza the newer remodeled room but wife wanted to stay at circa this time, and we love it. It's super convenient to just step out side, beautiful sports book, we hang around on the 2nd level more then the main floor. Will definitely stay here again next time.

Let's get some Pros and Cons on the Circa.

In all honesty the rooms are clean, classy joint and it's lively and the sports book is great. There's nothing greater then coming down from your room and going straight to the 2nd level and grabbing a coffee, walking a few feet where the sportsbook is. Plenty of places to eat, you can get out from the other side of Circa and cross the street to the Cal and hit up Aloha Specialties, or get out on the freemont side and just hit up freemont. Con though definitely needing to keep showing your ID to get in can get tiresome but, it's not like they alrady have my ID and credit card at the front desk. It's your kind of place Kinger for downtown Vegas

Sounds like a good place to stay.  Might stay there next time I'm in Vegas.  Thanks, Monty.

if you are early sleeper, ask the front desk to give you a room away from the stadiumswim/freemont street side. The thudding from the music goes on until at least about 11pm and starts back up in the morning. If you don't mind that, you can ask for the stadiumswim side so you can check out all the chicks in the swimming pool and watch games on the big screen in your own room i guess

I went in once when it first opened, beautiful place, fantastic sportsbook venue - best TV images I've ever seen, the cons are the ID check, poor pay tables on machines, and a kinda stuck up attitude(not quite as bad as the nugget however). I have heard they just aren't that busy inside but obviously cant confirm from personal observation.

They do the ID check to keep the homeless people out.

That's just silly, it's not hard to keep bums out, bums have ID's anyway, does the nugget have trouble without checking? I would assume they do it because they have some delusions that they are "different" and upscale, lends an aura of exclusivity.

Derek stevens wanted to build a high end strip type property downtown, he spent a fortune doing it. Downtown is not the strip, never will be, from what I hear it's losing money and is a disappointment. Imagine how many people there are like me, who wont even give them a chance to earn my business?

I went to a liquor store near me a while back and the clerk carded me, fine, I can play that game, but she wanted to scan my license, i told her she can look at it but not scan it, she said she cant, she's required to scan it, so i left without  making a purchase. They want to scan it so they can get data on exactly who you are, where you live , where their customers come from , etc. Sorry, i dont let people or companies get data off me without good reason.

By Nevada law, casinos have to allow public entry.  So, yes, it is hard to keep bums out unless they've been previously 86'd or trespassed.

They can't just kick people out for how they look.

As I've mentioned many times I stay at the el cortez, even they dont have trouble keeping bums out, they can tell who's who, who are the down on their luck regulars(good customers) and who aren't.

They want to keep the gang bangers/blacks out, so they figure by checking ID's all the criminals wont want to be tracked/located  and wont go in. Sounds great in theory, but the problem is people like me who might walk in and dump $100 dont do it. That's why they're struggling.

I don't think there are a lot of people like you honestly.

Most are used to being carded.  Especially the younger demographic which is what they want to cater to.

El Cortez has been around for ages.  Much of the seedy clientele has been 86'd already.  That's not the case with a new casino.

Like I said, it's not legal for casinos to kick someone out unless they're doing something that warrants it.

Lots of people from Mn go to vegas and many stay downtown, I've talked to strangers/casual contacts in sports bars around here who have said the same thing.  They all say the same thing, they did walk in once to check it out but prob wont be back, and they all say the ID thing sucks. Stevens owns the D and the golden gate - which is right across the st, he doesn't check there.
