Hedge
I'm cut-off from MG since 2011, and I wonder if WU is finally catching up to me too. My last 2 attempts the past 2 weeks to deposit with the same Book have failed (money refunded). Not sure if the problem is on the Book's end or mine. I've been averaging about 2 WU transactions a month the past 4 years or so, and wondering if the volume finally caused a flag.
StayGolden
I am an expert on this topic. Try variations of your name , should work fine for a while. If you are blacklisted as Michael Smith, send under Mike Smith. I suggest using a different phone number as well. Preferably one you have access to. Guest ChrisHarvard
I have been told that you don't have to give them ID. Some places ask for it, some don't. And some books won't mind if you send another a bogus name.
StayGolden
The problem with a bogus name is, if for some reason it cant be picked up or WU refunds it without warning, how will you pick it up ? You most certainly have to show ID to pick money up. You could use a friends name to send as well, and if any problem arises, explain it to your friend. I know Rite-Aid does not check ID for sending. Deal With It
You can use friends name and go back with MG. Use Walmart though...they don't question anything. That will also allow a cooling off period for you with WU.

Downsouth
I know someone that had a name banned/refunded this weekend. If you want to find out you can call the compliance department and they will tell you for security reasons that you are no longer allowed to use the service. Its generally tracked by phone number so if you insists on using make sure you use a number that you can actually use to call customer service if you need to. Do not by any means make up a number as it will be a nightmare if you ever have to call them for customer service. Good Luck
milwaukee mike
western union is a real horror story lately i got a call last week from a sportsbook making sure my name is mike and not michael, because western union transactions have been failing so often lately last time i sent one they asked me at least 4 times if i personally knew the person i was sending it to. not worth the hassle if you can use moneygram instead
KingKolzig
i love it when you are recieving and the clerks go on a power trip and say "gonzalo hernandez from guatemala oh i dont know" hate kissing their asses so that they will just do their fukin jobs once had this old hag who insisted on seeing my ID when i was sending. i said i didnt have too. she said she wouldnt do it if i didnt. so i give her my ID but i have a FL address on it and i was sending from NH. so she goes and "checks"

Cadillac Pete
Out of curiosity, why not do it online at WU? Seems easy and quick. Plus, no clerks to hassle you.

Dire Straits
The variation of your name trick used to work but now they want the name exactly as it appears on your ID. WU and MG are tightening the belt.
Hedge
The variation of your name trick used to work but now they want the name exactly as it appears on your ID. WU and MG are tightening the belt. Books are going to have to adapt to the deteriorating WU/MG situation. Adding Pay Pal as an option would help, and a few Books have already implemented this method.
