Question for Slim Shady or other Chinese posters

So today I have some lunch with my GF in ChinaTown in SF. It was a nice day so we decided to walk around a bit before leaving the area. We walked down to Chinatown Park (Portsmouth) to check things out since it's usually an interesting scene during the day. So the usual old people are playing those tiles gambling games I think it's mahjong. But I also noticed one corner where they were playing some card game. Obviously they are gambling (they hide the cash under the card board or wooden boxes they play on) so I pull out some cash I had and asked if I could play. They kinda shooed me away saying "game full". I asked another set and they told me the same. I assume it was bc I'm white and they didn't want to explain things to me.

Anyways, I want to know what game they were playing. I asked what it was called but they all ignored me and went back to yelling , smoking, and gambling. Here's a pic I snapped as I walked away. Notice there are easily a half dozen games going and that was just one small corner of the place! There were easily 50 different outdoor gambling tables going at once. Asians really know how to degen the right way.

Sheng Ji (fen)

trump game one or multi decked diferent point stucture based on decks in play.

Real popular street game, more so than tonk back in seventies.

Wow. Good knowledge. That actually makes sense on how it looked like it played. I only watched them for a few mins as they were none too happy for a gwai-lo to be ogling their game.

Felt like a tourist taking this pic but it was too good a view not to.

is there still action at North Beach?

Not at all like the olden days or even 15-20 years ago.

I still remember the first time by grandfather brought me to an underground card room/casino in north beach. And when I say underground, it was both illegal and literally 2 floors below the street level. Blew my mind. Apparently up until the late 70s there were huge underground casinos running at all times all over the city.

I knew of 2 when I still ran in those types of circles 10-15 years ago. Now I wouldn't even know where to look or who to ask. I stick to the legal places and internet.

Top 5 cities in the USA.....but very, very expensive to live......

I don't like fading earthquakes....but very scenic and tons to do; one of my favourite US cities....

Today I really appreciated how great it is living 15 mins from one if the best cities in the world thus the tourist style photos. Well worth the cost of admission to love here. It's expensive but well worth it.
